Crispy batter fried think cut potato is a perfect recipe for when it's pouring outside! BATATA BHAJIYA Ingredients 2 medium potatoes, unpeeled 1½ cups gram flour (besan) ½ tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp turmeric powder ¼ tsp carom seeds (ajwain) Salt to taste Oil for deep frying Date and tamarind chutney to serve Green chutney to serve Chaat masala to sprinkle Method 1. Take gram flour in a large bowl, add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds, salt and sufficient water. Whisk to form a semi-thick batter of coating consistency. Add a pinch of baking soda and mix well. 2. Slice the potatoes using a slicer directly into the batter. 3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, coat each slice of the potatoes with the batter and drop into the hot oil. Deep fry till golden and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper. 4. Transfer on to a serving plate and sprinkle chaat masala on top. Serve hot with date and tamarind chutney and green chutney.
