There’s nothing quite as comforting as a homemade 'Apple Pie', filling your kitchen with the sweet aroma of cinnamon and baked apples. 👌 In this episode, Chef Anupa takes you through each step of this classic dessert, beginning with a buttery, flaky crust and ending with a tender apple filling that's perfectly spiced with sugar and cinnamon. The result is a beautifully golden, fragrant pie that’s every bit as satisfying as it is nostalgic. 😋😍 Whether you’re baking for a special occasion or simply treating yourself, this timeless recipe is sure to bring warmth, joy, and plenty of smiles to the table. 😇😇 APPLE PIE Ingredients 2-3 medium green apples ¼ cup castor sugar ¼ tsp cinnamon powder 3-4 tbsps biscuit crumbs Dough 1 cup refined flour (maida) + for dusting 1/3 cup butter ¼ cup powdered sugar ¼ cup cold milk Method 1. Slice the green apples into thin strips. 2. Heat a non-stick pan. Add the apple strips and castor sugar and mix well. Add cinnamon powder, mix and cook for 4-5 minutes or till the apples turn soft. 3. Switch the heat off. Add biscuit crumbs and mix well. Transfer the apple mixture on a plate and allow the mixture to cool completely. 4. Preheat the oven at 200ºC 5. For the dough, take refined flour in a large bowl. 6. Add the butter and gently mix with the tips of your finger till the mixture resembles bread crumbs. 7. Add sugar and mix well. Add milk little by little and mix till the mixture comes together and forms a dough. Do not over mix. 8. Dust the worktop with some flour. Take half of the dough and roll it into a disc of medium thickness. The size of the disc should be slightly larger than the pie mould. Place this disc over the pie mould and press the bottom and the sides of the pie mould with your finger. Press the edges using a rolling pin and cut off the extra dough hanging from the sides. 9. Add the prepared apple mixture and spread it evenly. 10. Lightly dust the worktop with flour and roll out the remaining portion of the dough into a disc of medium thickness. Place this over the pie, press the edges using a rolling pin to seal and cut off the extra dough hanging from the sides. 11. Roll out the extra dough into thin sheet and cut out small shapes using various cookie cutters. 12. Apply some milk on one side of the pie and arrange the cut out shapes on top. Brush some milk on top of the entire pie. Make a few holes on top and bake for 20-25 minutes. 13. Remove the apple pie from the oven and allow to cool slightly. De-mould, cut a wedge and serve warm.
